Jinius Ltd (“Jinius”, “we”, “us”) provides a marketplace platform and related services. This privacy notice applies specifically to the Jinius Marketplace Sync Shopify App. 

2. Purpose of the App 

The Jinius Marketplace Sync Shopify App is required to enable merchants to securely connect their Shopify store with the Jinius marketplace. 

As part of Shopify’s authentication and authorisation framework, the app: 

• Authenticates the Shopify store 

• Establishes a secure connection between Shopify and Jinius systems 

• Requests and manages the permissions required for the integration 

Without this authentication and authorisation process, the integration between Shopify and Jinius systems cannot be established. 

3. Data and access permissions 

Through the permissions granted by the merchant via Shopify, the app enables Jinius to access certain store data necessary for the integration. 

These permissions may include access to: 

• Product data (e.g. catalogue information) 

In addition, the app processes limited technical data required for authentication, including: 

• Shopify store identifiers (e.g. store name and domain) 

• Authentication tokens and permission scopes 

• Technical logs related to authentication and connection events 

The specific data accessed depends on the permissions granted by the merchant and the functionality enabled in the integration. 

4. How data is used 

The data accessed via these permissions is used solely for: 

• Enabling and maintaining the integration between Shopify and the Jinius marketplace 

• Supporting marketplace functionality (such as product synchronisation) 

• Ensuring secure operation of the connection 

5. Important clarification 

The app functions as the authentication and permissions gateway required by Shopify. 

After permissions are granted, data processing is carried out through Shopify’s API as part of the integration with Jinius marketplace services. 

Additional clarification on external requests 
In certain cases, Jinius may receive data-related requests via Shopify as part of its platform requirements (e.g. data access or deletion requests). Where Jinius does not hold or process the relevant personal data, such requests are assessed, logged, and no further action is required. Where Jinius does process such data, requests are handled in accordance with this Privacy Statement and applicable data protection laws. 

  

6. Legal basis for processing 

Processing is carried out on the basis of: 

• Performance of a contract (enabling participation in the Jinius marketplace) 

• Legitimate interests (ensuring secure authentication, system integrity, and proper functioning of the integration) 

7. Data sharing 

Data accessed via the app is used within Jinius systems and may be shared with: 

• Service providers supporting the operation of the platform 

• Payment or transaction processors, where relevant to marketplace services 

• Regulatory or public authorities where legally required 

8. Data retention 

Data is retained only for as long as necessary to: 

• Maintain the integration and provide services 

• Meet security, audit, and regulatory requirements 

Where required, certain data may be retained for longer periods in line with applicable legal and regulatory obligations.
